Through my paintings I’m expressing an emotional response to the world around me and my place in it.
I typically work on large cradleboards which give me the space and freedom to layer, gouge and sand the surface and which also allows for the wood itself to sometimes become part of the detail. By using a limited palette of colours I create harmony whereby everything feels connected. Music is often an underlying inspiration for my expansive and expressive mark making and although the art is abstract, hints of nature occasionally appear. My paintings always have movement and are often dynamic with strong energy and are my own unique expressions, looking for connections through art.
