About
I'm an abstract expressionist painter working from my studio in Ladysmith on Canada's West Coast. My paintings are an emotional response to the world around me and my place in it and reflect my expressive self, making connections through art.
I typically work on large cradleboards which give me the space and freedom to layer, gouge and sand the surface. The wood itself also often becomes part of the detail. By using a limited palette of colours I create a harmony whereby everything feels connected.
Music is the underlying inspiration for my expressive and expansive mark making and although the art is abstract, hints of nature occasionally appear.
My paintings always have movement, are often dynamic with strong energy and are my own unique language.
